Message from the Music Director
Dear Friends,
Once again, the inspiring, history-rich premises of the Lobkowicz Palace at the Prague Castle will host the next season of the PKF's LOBKOWICZ 2024 donor series. The concerts in this series are very impressive, I would say even thrilling, both for the audience and for us performers. I am delighted that from the very beginning they have enjoyed great popularity with audiences, who at the same time express their support and understanding for their orchestra. Music is a living element and is constantly evolving, so our series also sensitively combines the worlds of old and new music. It is therefore a great honour and pleasure for me to thank you from the bottom of my heart and to repeat what I have said many times before, that art cannot flourish without those who support it with love and enthusiasm. Thank you for helping us to care for the values which take us back to the very essence of humanity.
Yours
Emmanuel Villaume
Music Director and Chief Conductor of the PKF — Prague Philharmonia

The PKF — Prague Philharmonia was established in 1994 by the conductor Jiří Bělohlávek, as the Prague Chamber Philharmonic. Today the PKF — Prague Philharmonia is one of the most highly respected orchestras not only at home, but also around the world, as documented by regular tours abroad and recording projects for internationally renowned labels, such as Deutsche Grammophon and Warner Classics. Since the beginning of the 2015—2016 season the PKF has been led by the French conductor Emmanuel Villaume.
The orchestra gives more than one hundred concerts a year, of which over a third abroad. The PKF were the first in the Czech Republic to offer educational programmes for children of pre-school and school age, as well as the Orchestra Academy for talented young musicians. To mark the orchestra's 30th anniversary, live recordings of works by Richard Strauss, Charles Gounod and Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy (conductor Emmanuel Villaume) can be heard on all streaming platforms from August 2023.
